Princess University

Eric and I have been talking a lot lately about what Rory will be like when she grows up. What she's going to do, what school she'll go to. We asked her if she wanted to go to an Ivy League school and she really didn't seem to care, but she really perked up when Eric suggested she go to Princeton. She said , "yes, yes I go to Princess!"

Drunken Playlist

At my command we have a designated driver program. No questions asked, no reprocussions, a Sailor can call 24/7 and someone (from a regularly rotating watchbill of volunteers) will come get you. A few friends and I talked about how amusing it would be if, when they arrived, you gave them your own personal CD to put in their stereo. It would consist of all the songs you love to sing along to when you've had a few too many.

These songs, in no particular order, are the songs that would be on my drunken playlist -

What I Got - Sublime
Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks
Drunken Lullabies - Flogging Molly
Islands in the Stream - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton
Great Balls of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis
Radar Love - Golden Earring
I Love Rock N' Roll - Joan Jett
Peaches - Presidents of the USA
Amish Paradise - Weird Al Yankovic
Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum
You've Lost That Loving Feeling - The Righteous Brothers
Free Fallin' - Tom Petty
Kick Some Ass - Stroke 9
What's My Age Again - Blink 182
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Steal My Kisses - Ben Harper
I'd Do Anything For Love - Meat Loaf

What would be on your playlist?

I'm a bad blogger

I find myself religiously checking friends' blogs. Watching to see when they update, what new cool things their kids are doing, what new projects they are working on.

I have to admit that I find myself being incredibly jealous of the things they are able to do in their time. The sane part of me knows that I work a more than full time job as well as trying to keep up with the house, a husband, a 2 year old and 2 dogs. Top that with all the additional pressure that I put on myself to be the absolute best (insert any title here) and I'm near the breaking point almost all of the time. But, when I look at their latest adventures in party planning, cake decorating or interior design, I can't help but feel like I'm lacking.

So, in an effort to make myself feel better, I'm going to make a list of all the things that I truly think are important, particularly during this holiday season. And then if I get extra time, I'll add a few things from the "would be nice if" list.

Now, maybe if I get some free time, I'll put together this list and post it here.

My first entry

I thought it was time I start one of these blogs all the kids are talking about. I've been reading my friends' for a while now, so it seems fair that I give them something to read and laugh about as well. Plus, I want a place to document some of the little things that go on in my quest to be the best Sailor, person, wife, mom, etc. that I can be.
A little update for those who may have lost touch -
I am living in Augusta GA and am a Sailor in the world's greatest Navy. I could not imagine a better way to make a living, although if they moved my job to Monterey I'd be a lot happier. I'm married to a wonderful man who I met in high school and had the good fortune to meet again later in life when we weren't so geeky and were willing to give the other a shot. We have a beautiful little two-year old named Aurora. She quite honestly is perfect. I never thought that having a child could change you so much, but she has already taught me so much. I love watching her grow. This weeks major accomplishment is running and kicking a ball at the same time. She's already more coordinated than I am.
Who knows what life has in store for us next, but I'm excited to see. So far the journey has been an incredible time!
